Charity and Outreach
Service to those in need is a primary activity of the Mt. Tam Guild. We collect projects for charity at every meeting and we encourage our members to make quilts that can be distributed to the various organizations we routinely support. Our community outreach projects produced over 100 quilts for donation in 2007.
Annual Outreach Project Day
Each year we have one meeting dedicated to assembling quilts for a donation to charities serving the needy in Marin County. Packets with fabric and patterns for Outreach projects are available at monthly meetings. Quilts are collected in November for distribution.

Community Service
In addition to financial contributions to the Marin County Fair for quilt exhibit prizes, and the California Heritage Quilt Project, Guild members often participate in educational forums. Members celebrated Falkirk’s Fiftieth Birthday Garden Party in 2005 with a booth demonstrating quilt making. Two members also provided educational information about quilting on Marin’s cable TV program “A Time for All Ages.” The Guild has showcased 50-60 of our members’ quilts for the past few years at the Marin County Senior Information Fair in the fall, viewed by 5,000 attendees. In 2007 we provided a series of quilting demos during all Fair hours.
Our 2007-08 service projects included:
• Quilt donation to a number of local non-profit agenies,
• Baby “shower” gift donations to needy pregnant women and infants in lieu of member gift exchange in December.
