Our Senior Access Memory Quilt is well received

Our members who worked with Sydne on the special Senior Access Quilt should be delighted at the wonderful reception the project has received. You can read about it in moreinmarin.com and at sfgate.com
Mimi Schreiber, a Director of Adult Day Services, tells us, "On behalf of Senior Access, thank you for this partnership. It has been a tremendous experience for everyone here - families, participants, and staff alike."
You can see pictures of the quilt on our June show and tell page and the August page

Special program on Joyce Gross and Historical Quilts

San Jose Museum of Quilts and Textiles presents "The World According to Joyce Gross" August 4 - October 25. Julie Silber talks about Joyce Gross' life, work and passion for historical quilts. Joyce was a prominent figure on the Marin County quilt scene. Visit the Museum's site for more information about this program and upcoming events.

Our Special Project Quilts

This spring, several guild members presented quilts to some of the campers at Camp Wonder, a camp for children with serious skin diseases. This is an ongoing project of an MTQG member.

Sydne has spearheaded the creation of an unusual quilt created by several of our members with a group of Alzeimher's patients in the county. The blocks share a common background fabric, but are individual collages reflecting the patients' memories. Sydne prepared the materials and has assembled the blocks into a remarkable top. Pictures are on our June show and tell page

Maureen, on her own, has made a beautiful little quilt for Camp Erin (for children with cancer) using their logo and lettering. It, too, is on our June show and tell page.

As part of our Guild's community outreach, a group of 4 Mill Valley quilters created a couple of quilts in support of the Mountain Play Association. The trick was to use t- shirts representing the productions of the past few years, ranging from "Annie" to "West Side Story."

Annual Guild Challenge

The 5th annual MTQG challenge began at the April 14 meeting, where the 2 fabric-2 word nature of this year's challenge was revealed. The two words are "recycled" and "joyful." A few packets remain for $5 each; a single packet contains two fat quarter fabrics and the rules for the 2009 challenge. Completed quilts will show at our December party.

Time to get working on that outreach quilt!

We want to make our goal of at least 100 quilts this year.

Ever visit Northern California Quilt Council (NCQC)?

This group is the central meeting place for quilt guilds, teachers and related concerns across -- you guessed it! -- Northern California. Their meeting place is in Pleasant Hill, but we have the link to the NCQC website here (and under Links).

Back in December...

A goodly number of our membership attended the annual Holiday Party. A part of our celebration, the Challenge Quilt show displayed sixteen gorgeous quilts -- all unique.

In addition, our annual completed Block of the Month quilt show netted 5 lovely entrants, shown on the Block of the Month Gallery page.

We brought baby gifts for donation to Marin Maternity, as part of our Guild's charity program.

Winners of the 2008 MTQG Challenge

Representatives from Homeward Bound were on hand at the November meeting to accept the 54 quilts members made as part of our community outreach effort. The Las Gallinas Lions Club leaders, also in attendance, enjoyed seeing their donation to the guild put to good use.

We link to Northern California Quilt Council. Stay on top of events scheduled outside Mt. Tam Quilt guild by visiting the events link to NCQC here.

Our 2007 Outreach project reached its zenith when Terry presented the many quilts we made over the year to the 2007 recipient organizations. In 2007 we donated over 100 quilts.
