Creating quilts to share with our community

Part of our own mission statement is to make quilts to give to local agencies serving Marin residents. If each of us donates one crib or lap quilt per year, we'll be able to provide a few quilts to all of the targeted groups. Watch for monthly updates from our Community Outreach chairpersons.

Outreach Quilts

Throughout the year, members make quilts and pillowcases for distribution to those in need. Organizations we'll be supporting this year include:

The Okizu Foundation provides peer support, respite, mentoring, and recreational programs to meet the needs of all members of families affected by childhood cancer.

Camp Wonder is the Children's Skin Disease Foundation Summer Camp for young people who suffer from life threatening skin disease.

Camp Erin is the Hospice By The Bay's Summer Camp. This program offers grief support and comfort tol members of the community who are anticipating or coping with the death of a loved one.

Family Service Agency of Marin povides a critical safety net of caring and affordable mental health services to over 7,000 children, adults, and families each year.

Three of these foundations offer summer camps for children in the Bay Area: Camp Okizu, Camp Wonder, and Camp Erin. Thanks to your generosity and hard work, this summer we delivered 97 pillowcases & 22 quilts to Camp Okizu (children with cancer); 70 pillowcases & 18 quilts to Camp Wonder (children with life threatening or serious skin disease); and 60 pillowcases to Camp Erin (children's bereavement program of Hospice). The response from the children and administrators has been wonderful - they can't thank YOU enough! As one person said "the children will carry the love you put into the quilts and pillowcases not only though their time at camp, but through their lifetime."

Marin Cancer Institute Exhibit

Guild members lent their artwork for display in the Marin Cancer Institute’s Atrium Gallery April 12-July 9. The exhibit provided guests a much needed burst of beauty and diversion during a trying time in their lives. Check out the exibit!

Camp Okizu

Our Guild President is donating her President's Quilt (made by Guild board members) to Camp Okizu to be auctioned as a fundraiser.

Senior Fair

Member's quilts were displayed at the Marin Senior Information Fair in the entry hall for the enjoyment of Fair visitors.

In addition to livening the general atmosphere, the Guild hosted a sales booth selling items made by members. Proceeds support the guild.

We also provided quilting demonstrations throughout the event showing guests just what our craft entails.
